Elon Musk’s Monumental Wealth Surge: The First $700 Billion Fortune in History
YouTube Music is giving its interface a subtle but meaningful refresh, relocating the search function to the bottom navigation bar for easier reach.
The shift follows a broader design trend in mobile apps that prioritizes one-handed use. With larger phone screens, tucking the search icon at the top often meant awkward finger stretches. Moving it down streamlines everyday navigation and makes browsing feel more natural. According to 9to5Google, the change is rolling out gradually, so not everyone will see it right away.
Search and discovery, combined
Previously, YouTube Music kept Search and Explore as separate functions. The new design merges them: the compass-shaped Explore button is gone, replaced by the familiar magnifying glass. Tap it, and you land on the Explore page — but now with a search bar at the top, allowing you to look up songs while scrolling through recommendations at the same time.
It’s a more seamless approach compared to the old setup, which forced users to bounce between tabs to discover music and track down specific titles. On top of that, a new shortcut lets you double-tap the search bar to instantly pull up the keyboard, trimming a step off the process.
The feature is still in limited release, with Google yet to confirm when it will be available to all users. For now, early testers are finding that even a small change like this can make music discovery faster — and a little less frustrating on big screens.
