As early buyers of Google’s Pixel 10 start using their devices, many are running into frustrating problems with Android Auto connectivity.

Posts on the Google Pixel subreddit describe the feature as “nearly unusable.” According to one user, their Pixel 10 screen refreshes roughly every five minutes while running Android Auto, with the interface freezing in between updates.

Other owners have chimed in with similar complaints. One driver noted that their Pixel 10 struggled to connect properly to a 2018 Chevy, with the visuals completely stuck while the touchscreen buttons still functioned. In contrast, the Pixel 10 Pro XL worked fine in a 2023 Mitsubishi, and older models like the Pixel 7 Pro showed no issues. Another person confirmed their Pixel 9 Pro connects without problems, suggesting the issue is isolated to the latest series.

Several users pointed to a thread on Google’s official support forum reporting identical behavior: the phone is detected by the car, but the display stays gray with only the Android Auto logo visible. Attempts to fix it—clearing app data, wiping caches, and even performing a factory reset—did not resolve the problem.

There’s no clear cause. While some speculated USB connections were at fault, others said the bug also appears when using wireless Android Auto. A member of Google’s Android Team has since replied to the forum thread, indicating the company is investigating. A fix may arrive in a future update, possibly in September.

This isn’t the first time Pixel devices have had rocky Android Auto support. Last year, Pixel 9 owners reported audio stuttering and dropped sound when streaming music or making calls through Android Auto, particularly on the Pro XL model. At that time, Google recommended staying on version 13.3 of the app as a workaround.

Even earlier, Pixel 7 and 6 users faced connection troubles in 2023, with temporary fixes involving restarts or clearing caches. The Pixel 10 now seems to be the latest in Google’s flagship lineup to wrestle with Android Auto compatibility headaches.
